The Reserve Bank of India conducts the RBI Grade B Officer exam in three stages – Phase 1, Phase 2, and Interview. The RBI Grade B Syllabus 2026 includes subjects like General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning, and English Language in Phase 1, while Phase 2 covers Economic & Social Issues (ESI), Finance & Management (FM), and Descriptive English. Phase 1 is an objective screening test and its marks are qualifying in nature, while the final selection is based on Phase 2 performance and the Interview. The exam evaluates candidates’ knowledge of banking, economics, finance, and analytical ability, making it one of the most competitive government exams in India.

Phase 1 Syllabus

  • General Awareness: Banking & financial awareness, current affairs, economic news, government schemes, static GK.
  • Quantitative Aptitude: Number series, simplification, ratio & proportion, percentage, profit & loss, time & work, data interpretation.
  • Reasoning Ability: Puzzles, seating arrangement, syllogism, inequality, coding-decoding, logical reasoning.
  • English Language: Reading comprehension, error detection, sentence improvement, cloze test, vocabulary, grammar.

Phase 2 Syllabus

  • Economic & Social Issues (ESI): Indian economy, economic growth & development, poverty, globalization, sustainable development, social structure in India.
  • Finance & Management (FM): Financial system, financial markets, risk management, corporate governance, leadership, motivation, communication, management theories.
  • Descriptive English: Essay writing, precis writing, and reading comprehension
